Hallo

evancooksey

I'm Evan Cooksey, an After Effects 2.5D animator and motion designer from Wisconsin. I grew up in the 80s, listening to the Violet Femmes with my older sister. I once wanted to be a pilot, but flying was too expensive, so I pursued storytelling instead!

I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2008 with a degree in digital production. I've worked in various production and post positions for over a decade, gaining a well-rounded perspective.

After my son was born in 2019, I shifted to full-time motion design and dedicated myself to learning more about it. I now work as a freelance animator and motion designer in Columbus, Ohio.

I enjoy practicing German, wine, biking, cinema, and camping in the southwest. I spend time connecting and collaborating with artists to make cool stuff. I freelance allows me to spend my days with my four-year-old son, Jean-Luc, who is fascinated by books, skeletons, Minnie Mouse, ice-cream, legos, and the Grinch.

I love talking about animation, if you’ve got any questions let’s connect.

News:

Air Wiggles, an online community of sound designers, used my animation for the 5th day of their April community challenge. Sound designers were provided with my animation and were to sound design it with limited time. There were 200+ replies and it’s amazing to hear the results. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love sound designers. I was so happy to be part of it. The incredible collection of the 30-day event is worth a listen.

I entered my animations into School of Motion’s #Somtember contest last September and was one of the winners. The prize was the new Animation Bootcamp and my teaching assistant was none other than Joey Korenman! Receiving direct feedback from Joey was like a dream. Incredible event and opportunity.

There is probably more you ought to know about me, conveniently Origo Branding wrote an article about me while I worked there as their Motion Designer.
